Official Ribbon Cutting

Well, I’ve let the cat out of the bag and told everyone on my email list that I have a website. brepettis.com Read away and feel free to leave comments. I’m curious what people will think and hope it works on all browsers and all that kind of stuff that webmasters over the world fret about.

brehaspati to brepettis

I just updated my website from brehaspati.com to brepettis.com because nobody could remember my middle name

I lost a post or two in the transition :(

meta tags, an end to frames, and a mariner’s loss

So this won’t be very interesting, but I just finished reorganizing my website so that it doesn’t have frames and I added little meta tags for the search engine spiders to crawl all over.

I went to the mariners game last night with my dad and some visiting guests from Japan. We lost. We lost bad. 9-0. We had such good seats and so I took the loss personally. I really was a good fan yelling and hooting and calling out and doing the whole ed-gar thing and then we lost anyway. Still, the seats were the best I’ve ever sat in at the stadium so that was fun. I usually get a salmon ceasar salad and I enjoyed mine last night.

I knit a scarf recently, only I didn’t have enough yarn so I had to put a button on it so that it would wrap around my neck and stay there. I think it’ll start a new trend.

I’m back

Well it’s been about a week. My ibook memory was bad and had corrupted my hard drive so I had to send it off to CA to get it fixed and then I haven’t had a computer for a week. It was good because it made me think about what I want to do with my life and figure it all out, but it was a little frustrating not having high speed access.

I have about 20 new dolls to put up. I’m calling them sympathy dolls which is a good name, but I am still missing the name misery dolls that I had for them until I did a trademark search and found that that name has been trademarked. I’m going to go in and get some more prints printed this next week and I’m writing a PB story that I think I’ll put on here and maybe make into a little book to sell.

Mariners vs. Yankees

I’m going to go see the game today down at Safeco field. It’s going to be good. When the Yankees play, everybody brings their game.

Jennifer and I enjoyed the Olympic coverage last night. Well, everything but watching a guy on the parallel bars land on his finger dislocating it and making it point the wrong direction!

I’m also excited to have a little page of favorite books. Right now I just have drawing books up, but I am going to have all my favorite books up eventually with links to Amazon so you all can go get them.

Art

I haven’t painted in a while. It’s a little tricky because of the way I paint. I put on a layer of paint with a knife and then let it dry. Then I go over it again and repeat until the painting is done or I can at least live with it. If I can’t I put it away.

Right now all my painting stuff is up in the workshop at the whidbey farm sitting there. There are about 8 paintings up there in various states of completion.

So right now I’m doing photography. I use the photocenter so that I don’t have to set up the darkroom in my bathroom. It’s nice there with lots of room and good air circulation. I get things done a lot faster there.

I’ve got some photos that aren’t on the web of me in vulnerable situations that I really like, but they are a little too vulnerable to be on the web in public.

It’s been nice putting a lot of work on the web. Somehow it feels like finishing projects. Finishing projects is good because then I can start more new ones.

I’m looking forward to re-editing a movie I made this spring. I’m gonna do another pink bunny movie soon.

pinging/trackback

I’m just going to try and ping to the seattle blog page by putting in this text in my trackback box. If this works it will show people this post which has got to be the most boring post ever. I promise to write more interesting posts to make public in the future

What am I going to do?

I’ve been teaching for the past five years and I just resigned. It just wasn’t the right place for me to be. It was a good job and I did it very well, but there were some things about it that were not satisfying me on a deep level and so I waited through the summer to see if any other jobs would pop up in the district to transfer to and they didn’t.

I am excited to be in a place of opportunity again. In the world of education, there are a few jobs I’m checking out. I am also interested in teaching adults and I’m open to a non-education job working with folks who I can work with on a team. So you can see that the playing field in my life is wide open.

I am looking into finishing my masters. It’ll cost some money, but if I ever teach again, then it will pay for itself in a few years with the pay increase I would get from having a masters.

In the meantime, I’ve got a substituting position so that I can pay bills and continue health insurance and stuff. It’s nice to have a safety net like that.
