I Make Things

I’ve been doing video work lately and I love it. It’s been really fun to make videos to go on the web.

Jennifer and I went up to Whidbey to go to a big family birthday thing and it was great. Many great conversations were had.

Besides that, a few days ago Jennifer and I started work on recording some xmas songs. It takes a lot more time than I thought it would. I’ve been busy doing work as a sub and now with video and it’s been great. I’m looking forward to this upcoming Thanksgiving to work more on personal projects like a new Pink Bunny story and more recording. Life is good.

I’ve made Pink Bunny Button Pins and, oh my, they are cute!!! I’m going to put them up on pink bunny.org in the next few days and sell them for $1 plus some shipping. I can’t wait to get them up on the sites so people can see them.

I’ve worked for the past few days in my friend Erin’s classroom. It was great. I had revelations about teaching and a little more insight into the perspective of students of color in a school that is mostly white (european-american) and has a dominant white culture. I am also reflecting on the importance of making respectful connections with students as a starting point for education.

I got an ensoniq esq-1 keyboard to help make the pink bunny christmas albumn. It’s totally an 80’s keyboard I can’t wait to get my teeth into that project.

I’m trying to get finished up on a project making video for earth sanctuary which is going to add a nice personal touch to that website. I’m in the thick of it trying to convert my movies from imovie to quicktime to wmv or avi formats. I have flash so I can export them as a flv, which I think may actually be best for all platforms, but I’m not ready to give up on catering to pc users.

In other news, we’ve been having guests over for dinner the past few nights. Talking to friends is good for the soul. I made an apple pie for the first time. Thanks go out to Eric for teaching me how to make crust over the phone, it turned out awesome.

Anyhow, life is good. Life is very good. In the past few months I’ve put some energy into exploring life and the more I open up to possibilities, the more things become possible. Did I mention that I’m also in a wonderful deeep relationship with the sweetest gal on earth? Again, life is good.

I’ve seen some art lately. I like the stuff by Alex Schweder at howard house. I also liked Brian Murphy’s self portraits at platform gallery. Brian was in the gallery and I got a chance to meet him. His gentle spirit really matches the feel of his beautiful watercolors. I also got to meet Dirk and Carol, two of the people who run platform gallery and they were the friendliest gallery people I’ve met in a long time. If I was buying more art instead of making it, I would buy it from Platform. Later, we went to Western Bridge which is having it’s second exhibition. The work didn’t capture me like their first show, but it’s a good place.
