Pete Grondal: Video Podcaster

Pete and I
Pete Grondal is the compression guy over at WindowsMedia and we got together today. Pete showed me around Microsoft Studios. Who knew that over in Bellevue there is a boxy building that houses the most technology rich studios outside of hollywood?

We talked about the importance of content, the importance of content, and the importance of content… and we ate great mexican food from a shiny truck.

Pete decided that the term podcast should be an umbrella for anything that goes out as syndicated media content. By just doing it, he has unofficially positioned himself as the apollonian god of video-podcasting.

I’m looking forward to helping him with a wordpress blog to vlog from.

I really should have been video-taping the whole thing, but the conversation was so good, that I just couldn’t bring myself to get the video camera out. I did snap this little video on my phone in Pete’s old mercedes beast.

It’s all grainy because it’s taken with my phone! I’ve also noticed that my phone’s video gets out of sync with the audio, so do not adjust your sets.

Interview With Headsoff

While in NYC, I had a chance to interview the creators of the videoblog headsoff. Serra and Mike both document their adventures and find interesting things and then put it all on their vlog! Make sure to catch their advice for videobloggers at the end of the video! Link

Art

I recently posted to a vlogging group that I don’t think there is much art in vlogs. The response I got varied from person to person. Some people felt that any form of expression is art. Some showed me performance art style videos. I was pointed to some beautiful moments captured and created on video.

I have a very narrow view of art. I teach art and I see a lot of it and most of it, I don’t consider art. For me art has to do with presentness and since I can be very subjective about it, I am. I used to write a lot more about art on my blog, but now I’m kinda obsessed with vlogging, so art has taken a back seat.

I called my friend Daniel. We go see art together a lot. I told him. “I haven’t been making much art, I’ve been to focused on producing video. What should I do, what’s the entry point back into art?”

Daniel is one of two people who I ask for advice because he knows me really well. He said, “Draw. If any art is ready to come out of me, drawing will be an opening for it. Maybe you’ll draw videos,” He said.

Random Show Vlog Anthem

Anders over at The Random Show does really great things with music and vlogs. I love the way he adds in layers into this video with the guitar fretboard and the keys. If you aren’t subscribed. Do so now.
