I worked for the Creature Shop on a few movies in 1995-96 and those were good times. I sent some emails to some folks today and when they all came back dead, I did some research and found out that London JHCS has died it’s death.
DCInput blogged his adventure into the catacombs underneath the shop recently and they’re worth a look.
The closing of the creature shop makes me sad, I was hoping to go hang out there this weekend. Man, I’m really bummed.
When I was there last spring, they were building hitch-hikers. Dang, I just can’t believe they’ve locked the doors.

you worked for the creature shop?
please make a video about it!
This makes me very sad too.
I’ve been to Henson Studios in NYC. It was amazing to see the mini creature shop in the basement. Many original muppets on file… kind of like a catacombs as you described it.
The building itself was amazing… Jim’s original office had a stylized stained glass window depicintg Jim and Frank Oz holding up Burt and Ernie puppets.
I was told that the office remained empty after Jim’s death, and was only as an office again a couple years ago. There were some amazing original drawings by Jim on the walls.
I teared up several times while touring the building (I was interviewing for a job)… it was all so fascinatingly beautiful and sad.
