You may have noticed the little dreamhost banner in the righthand sidebar. It’s there because dreamhost rocks. For $7.95 a month I get 20 Gigs of storage and 1 Terrabyte of transfer. With those numbers you can host your own videos on your site.
With dreamhost you can host as many websites as you want for that same $7.95. Yep, that’s right, Room 132, I Make Things, We Are The Media, Pinkbunny, and Magic Monkey Bob all on the same hosting plan plus I host sites for my friends Eric Borgesen and Clark Ov Saturn. Even though I Make Things, Zip Zap Zop, and We Are The Media are pretty popular, we haven’t even broken past 1% of the bandwidth capacity.
Dreamhost also makes it really easy to make a blog. You can have a wordpress blog installed on your site with one click and it doesn’t stop there. You can also install forums and a bunch of other cool stuff with one click too.
If you need awesome hosting, please click on the link at the right to sign up or use the code “grassrootsmedia” when asked who referred you. Or hey, you could click right here. When you click on the dreamhost link on this page, we get a little kickback which goes toward paying for my own hosting and other projects.

We also use Dreamhost for our hosting and it rocks! We have never even come close to using all our bandwidth! I didn’t know about installing a wordpress blog, I’ll definately check this out. Cheers!
With that many video blogs, where do you host your video files?
Hi Christian,
I’m actually an alpha tester for vblogcentral and so I use them, plus I often archive a 640×480 at blip.tv where I cross post to the archive.
After checking my stats the other day, I know I could host it myself, but vblogcentral does such a good job of transcoding into multiple kbit speeds in wmv and quicktime, so I use them.
Thanks for the comment, let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Saw Bre at the UBS today. Was the weirdest thing. I was returning a book at the counter and after fussing around my wallet to get the receipt, I looked up and saw Bre walking towards the purchase counter. I wasn’t sure at first, so I followed him with my eyes to get a longer look. Yep, it had to be him. Glasses, sideburns and all. Wohoo!
And yep, I was too shy to walk up and say anything.

PS. Didn’t know where else to put this post.
Hi Bre!
Do you know if you can import old files from typepad (which Ive got now) to Wordpress? I’d love to make the jump, but don’t want to lose all my old post… I can export from typepad no problems, but not sure you can import them in WP? (like you can’t in blogger…)
hope that makes sense
thanks
Trine
Wordpress 2.0 imports from everyone, I imported my old blogger and I would assume that it is just as easy with typepad. Its like a dream.
Thanks for answering my question Bre, I was also wondering why your video posts work so well? The way that they play within the post. Is that a vblogcentral thing? If I had the time I would get into producing Video podcasts but the time that you all must put into editing must be huge! It would be fun to interview sometime about all the work it is.
It’ll import typepad no sweat.

I’ve had no spam since I got set up with akismet (a default wp plugin).
The other cool thing about dreamhost is that you can upgrade wordpress at the touch of a button.
