Shoverboards - Weekend Project Preview

Last night, in a dark alleyway in the depths of the industrial district in Seattle the sport of shovercraft was born. Here’s a sneak preview of the hovercrafts we made! Watch the games this Friday in the weekend project podcast! Link to Photoset

JPG Magazine: Embracing the Blur

JPG Magazine gets community involvement, they produce a magazine that is all based on photos that individuals have submitted. If Web 2.0 is about social networking, then this is Web One Billion which is about collaboration. Users want to feel acknowleged and known and respected. What better way to respect them than to publish them! Of course I subscribed immediately!

My only complaints are that I can only submit one photograph per category and there are no comments.

They have a category for submission right now called embrace the blur, and I have a lot of beautiful blurry photos. I uploaded my two favorites. Go forth, check them out and vote for me so that my photo will be in the next magazine. Link to my blurry submission.

Where am I on the internet?

I’ve been lax in posting due to work, let me catch you up and let you know where I’m at on the internet.

I’ve been working on videos for Make: magazine. I made one about nitinol robots and camera hacking. You can now check them out at http://makezine.com/weekendprojects. I’m really pleased with the way weekend projects is going. I’ve been learning pdf kung fu and that’s good stuff. The next video is going to be really great with a Thanksgiving theme! Stay tuned.

I’ve been posting to the intel blogging challenge blog lately too. Intel seeded some computers to folks and asked them to blog about blogging! They had a mystery blogger who has just been revealed!

I’ve also been really active on flickr. In fact if you want to see me, but haven’t seen me, you can spy on me via my flickr photos.

My life has changed a lot in the past six months, I’ve switched to working full time for make, travelled a lot, and converted my apartment into a podcast tv studio and workshop. I’ve made a lot of new friends, got obsessed with dodgeball and I’ve got a lot of exciting things coming up.

The thing I miss about blogging here on my personal blog is being able to write about what I think and muse on the creative process, so I’ll put that on the agenda for future posts. For right now, it just feels good to hit the publish button and put some text up on the internet.

Here’s the vid.

This week I’ve been working on an apple-gun, aka “The Johnny,” a pumpk-zooka, and I have an idea for a pea shooter too.

Then I’m off to the vloggies, fly kites at yahoo’s time capsule event, visit sebastapol, and come home a week later.

I love to travel, but all the travelling I’ve done in the past two months makes me really appreciate a deep slumber in my own bed.
