Twitter to the Rescue

I’m at work and I was facing a frustrating problem, I wanted to convert an aif formatted audio file into an mp3. On my laptop, I have a program to do this, but I couldn’t remember it’s name and the laptop is at home.

I need an mp3 because I need to test out audio players. I’m going to upload the audio to blip.tv and see what their video player does for audio.

But I couldn’t get the freaking garageband created podcast into an mp3. 15 minutes with google didn’t help.

Twitter to the rescue. For those of you who balk at joining twitter because it’s just another social network, when was the last time a social network pulled a group of friends together to help you out?

Thanks to my friends on twitter for helping me get out of a jam!

Find me on Twitter

Twitter

I’m blogging more at Etsy’s Storque these days. I used to use this as my megaphone for things I found that are cool and more and more I do that on twitter. As I’ve switched the cool megaphone to twitter and this blog has become more of an archive of things that I’ve found or that have happened to me and press.

Twitter has been great for getting support. It’s kind of like phoning a friend and polling the audience at the same time.

I have a few twitter rules for myself. I only follow people I know, so if you use “piggieface” as your twittername, I won’t know it’s you. I follow a few people I don’t know who post insightful or funny things. I try and only post things that I think that I would want to read if I wasn’t me.

I don’t twitter my location very often. I’ve had a few twitter stalking incidents that weren’t bad, but were awkward enough to make me think twice about location data.

Photogamer is going strong

Photogamer is doing awesome. There are a bunch of people doing the tasks and we just hit the 4000th photo. It’s been less than a month since we hit 3000! Here’s my favorite photo from looking through the group today.

My New Etsy Video - Howto Gocco Print

I’ve got a new video up at Etsy that I’m really proud of, it’s a video that teaches you how to use a Gocco printer. It’s a really easy to use contraption for screenprinting.

I’m really happy with the intro and outro of this video and the sounds in it!

Bonus for people who watch it here - Did you see the secret message? If you did, make sure you go comment on the article in the storque! - Link
