Twitter

I’m blogging more at Etsy’s Storque these days. I used to use this as my megaphone for things I found that are cool and more and more I do that on twitter. As I’ve switched the cool megaphone to twitter and this blog has become more of an archive of things that I’ve found or that have happened to me and press.

Twitter has been great for getting support. It’s kind of like phoning a friend and polling the audience at the same time.

I have a few twitter rules for myself. I only follow people I know, so if you use “piggieface” as your twittername, I won’t know it’s you. I follow a few people I don’t know who post insightful or funny things. I try and only post things that I think that I would want to read if I wasn’t me.

I don’t twitter my location very often. I’ve had a few twitter stalking incidents that weren’t bad, but were awkward enough to make me think twice about location data.

Awesome post! I love reading other posts by people who “get” Twitter and are ingrained in the community.

That’s sad about the local quasi-stalking incidents. Twitter has been a fantastic source of new drinking buddies and a calendar of tech events here in Seattle. Maybe you could track the name of your city and some local haunts so you’ll be in the loop if there’s anything you want to show up at.

I’m @MarinaMartin on Twitter.

Since you’re moderating comments and I don’t see an email link … D’oh! You live in Seattle, too. I knew that. You were the opening screen of Ignite Seattle last night :) I thought you meant you were hiding your location generally-speaking, not that you don’t want to announce where you are at a given moment. As soon as I hit submit, I realized my error. Sorry!
